Have you ever asked the question how can I think of nothing?
We live in a world that is filled with something every second of the day. It’s not your fault. Since the 80s there has been a shift, the invention of the Internet, mobile phones, ipads etc. has increased access to more information and more STUFF to fill our day with.
We obviously can’t go back to the days where we only had a home phone and if someone called and you were not home they simply had to wait to talk to you.
So what is the answer? How can we stop thinking for just a minute or two?
Meditation will lead you to a way that you can access a deeper part of your being where it is actually quiet and when you get there you will find that thought organizes itself and you can become an observer of thought.
When you practice this on a regular basis you will find it becomes easier and easier to access this point of view, even when you are not sitting with the intention to meditate. You can walk through your day in a constant state of meditation.
How does that sound?
Do you want to know how to access this deeper part of yourself?
I know what you are going to say, but I don’t have time to meditate, I can’t meditate because I can’t stop thinking. I want you to know that everyone can meditate and it doesn’t have to be cross-legged on the floor in the lotus position. It can be sitting on the edge of your bed in the morning before you even get up or the same before you go to bed at night, you can meditate while you are doing the dishes or gardening or ironing or hanging the washing out. There are plenty of opportunities during a normal day for you to achieve this. I am going to share the big secret here so are you ready?
The key is to notice you are actually thinking and catch your thought.
There it’s that simple. Once you have noticed you are thinking you can step back and observe the thought from a different perspective. The more you practice this the easier it becomes to calm the mind and organize your thoughts.
I run Beginners Meditation Classes throughout the year and in these classes we dive deep into becoming aware of your thoughts and mastering techniques that will create a more peaceful and calm mind, from this platform you can master anything.
