Have you ever felt stressed or disconnected from yourself and the people around you? Do you have excessive chatter going on inside your head, preventing progress in your life? Are you looking to feel happier in general and have no idea where to begin?
Would you like to find out how you can change these realities?
One of the quickest ways to make positive change that will calm the chatter, re-connect you with yourself, the people you love and get clarity on what you need to do to action change in your life is to start meditating. I am going to share with you three key benefits of meditation and how this simple practice can bring happiness and peace back into your life.
Meditation is one of the fastest ways you can reduce stress in your body. Stress causes inflammation in the body, inflammation causes illness, and this is a known fact. According to the Deepac Chopra foundation, after only four days of meditating morning and night for 20 minutes you can reduce the body’s stress levels by 40%. So if you do nothing else, you can reduce your body’s stress levels by 40% if you start to meditate today. I love this statistic because it explains why, when I first began meditation 15 years ago, I found that I felt way more relaxed after only a 10 minute session. I believed that this change in me was noticeable and so I continued with the practice. I incorporated Reiki with the meditation to get an even better result, and learned how to teach it within my Reiki Master/Teacher Course.
Meditation is not hard once you practice a little and get started into it the right way. If you learn the basics first then ease your way into meditation you will find it a joyful experience and one you look forward to.
2. Feel Happy
Did you know that the mind knows no difference between imagination and reality? That’s right. The body will still produce the same hormones and enzymes whether the experience you are having is imagined or real.
Those hormones and enzymes are what are responsible for the feelings we perceive. So, for example, when we have a fright or something happens suddenly, your body produces adrenaline and you experience a raise in heart rate and all of your muscles fire at once giving you a burst of energy, so you can flee the perceived danger.
Have any of you ever felt this way before?
Knowing this, wouldn’t you like to create a situation where your body is producing calm and happy chemical reactions where you find peace and want to stay and enjoy that feeling?
Those happy hormones are called endorphins. They are what are responsible for the wonderful feelings your body has when you are receiving a massage or you are falling in love. Have any of you ever felt these feelings before?
Guided meditation offers an environment where your endorphins are released and your body relaxes. The imagined reality created within the guided meditation is all the body needs to start to produce these happy, peace giving hormones. So, once you begin to meditate, you will learn to produce happy feel good hormones for yourself whenever you need them.
1. Connecting your awareness/intuition.
While in this peaceful state of relaxation and peace, you have the ability to connect with a deep inner awareness. During your daily routine is it usually so busy you don’t have time to think?
When you take time to meditate on a regular basis you give your body more opportunity to reach that peaceful state, where you can become the observer of what you are doing, to step outside yourself for a moment and contemplate your situation.
This ability increases the more you meditate and you quickly become able to reach this state of conscious awareness during your daily tasks. When given a clear vision of each situation you find yourself in, you are able to catch yourself before you react and have that split second to ask yourself if what you are about to say is beneficial to the situation or it is completely ego driven.
By meditating regularly, like training for a marathon, you are training the body to walk through your day in a constant state of peace. From this peaceful state you are able to make educated decisions from a calm state of mind. Does that sound like something you want to be able to do?
